How Much Does Boudoir Photography Cost?

Searching for a boudoir photographer? Confused about various price ranges?  Don't feel bad, it can be a bit confusing. I would like to share some insights into boudoir pricing. Keep in mind that these are generalizations, and not every photographer falls into these categories, but it is a good starting point to help understand the differences.

How Low Can You Go?  I have seen boudoir photography ads for $199 that include everything under the sun. These are usually photographers just starting boudoir and are looking to build a portfolio. Some have a studio and are adding boudoir packages. Others may have an in-home studio set-up, such as a bedroom or spare room.

Model Calls could also fall into economy package. Again, these boudoir photographers are trying to build a portfolio and offer reduced prices for albums and/or digitals. Studio photographers will also run model calls in a slower season or are adding boudoir sessions to their collections.

Mid-range- These could be more experienced boudoir photographers. The session fees may range from $300-$500. Their initial fees could, and usually do,  include Hair/Makeup and possibly some digital files . Extras are offered such as a boudoir album or prints that can be ordered after the session or be included in a larger collection. Album pricing can also vary, but the smaller ones usually begin around $300. Ask to view a demo album to see the quality before booking. I have seen cheaper albums that do not have a long life. The boudoir experience is one that you want to keep forever. Don't skimp on something you may regret later.

Higher End- They are usually more experienced, have a studio and include Hair/Makeup. The session fee will be about the same as the mid-rangers, but offer high quality albums for a more lucrative cost. Extras may be a la Carte or collections. Either may have a base investment of around $1k, and could go as high as several thousand dollars.

If there is one thing to remember, is that your boudoir session is an intimate, empowering time. Read through the entire web site. Talk with your photographer before booking and see the vibe you get from him or her.  Check out the products you are interested in. Any boudoir photographer who is interested in working with you will take 30 minutes of their time to help you.  Whatever your price range is there is a photographer for you.

And just one more thing. (Yes, I stole that from Steve Harvey!)  Keep in mind that boudoir photography is more than just taking pictures in lingerie. It is an empowering, confidence-building, hopefully fun experience! Make your boudoir experience one that you will cherish for your lifetime!
