Are you excited about your boudoir session? Today you will be treated to celebrity status, and your photo shoot will bring you the confidence that you didn't know was deep inside your heart. If you feel some butterflies, that is a good thing! Shape that nervous feeling into anticipation and feel the glow! I will greet you at the door we will head to the shooting room to begin your custom boudoir experience.

Make-up- Remember when we talked about make-up a few weeks ago? This is a great time to relax and start your star treatment. Enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage while we chat. Share with me what's going on in your life, and we catch up on some things we talked about in your pre-planning session. I will also describe exactly everything that goes on during the day so there ae no surprises. Rest assured that your HMUA is professional and licensed and will be with us for the entire photo session. This helps as you have someone to help with wardrobe if needed, or any hair and make-up touchups during your session- just like in the movies!

Choose Wardrobe- Now that you have had your hair and makeup done and feeling glamorous, let's look at what you brought. Remember, too, that we have planned this in your pre-planning session. This will include clothing like dresses, pants and tops, lingerie and shoes. And boudoir photography may also include props you may bring. The idea of a boudoir shoot is to show your intimate self. So you may bring jewelry, your SO's shirt, or anything that may have special meaning for you. We will plan things like how to use a prop, or how to show lingerie on the bed.  This is really a fun time as we can imagine how your your boudoir album will look. For you it may be a moment to envision yourself in pictures, and for me it is a time to plan photographic art.

Fun Fact- In the first image I asked her to test the pearls to see if they're real. We both got a laugh out of that!

First Outfit- Let's get this party started! I like to begin with the most conservative outfit you have. It may be a dress or pants and a top. These casual shots ease into the photo session and help you get used to the camera. You will  also be able to use these for  head shots for your profession or social media. Another advantage is that you may feel more comfortable following direction in a casual outfit if you are new to boudoir photography. You might say this is a warm-up and still getting beautiful images you can use to share.

Natural Posing- Don't know how to pose? Or you don't like posed pictures? Me neither! My goal is to show you looking elegant, confident and feminine. You and I make this happen with some easy to follow direction. Sometimes I may show you a pose. Or I may use mirror posing. This is so easy. You will be my mirror! You just reflect what I do! You will be a great poser in no time!

Mirror Posing

Wardrobe Change- By now you are feeling a little more comfortable and ready to rock out some boudoir pictures! Posing is easier than you thought and you are feeling, Yes! I can do this! Woo-hoo!"

As you gain confidence during the shoot we will add some subtle movements to the poses. Like I said, I like more natural looking images so let's add in some movement. This could be as simple as brushing your hair back or running your fingers through your hair. Sometimes we include the outfit you are wearing, like pulling up your stockings or grabbing the collar on your shirt.

Something as simple as lowering a robe can create a sexy image. Here I asked Kelly to walk away from me and slowly lower her robe as she heads toward the bath. I like that it makes a natural look and is super easy to pose. It's not even posing, right? When you have something to do with your hands, and we create simple movements, it takes off the pressure of how do I look? You are tuned into something other than the camera.

Is that all there is to it?- Yes, but there is a caution alert. My goal is for you to look elegant and feminine. There may be some posing that you are not accustomed to doing every day. How do we make your legs look long and graceful? There are two keys to this. In a standing pose I will ask you stand on your toes. If you are lying on the bed or sitting in a chair you will point your toes and and straighten your ankles. Another technique involves using your arms. The golden rule for posing is if it bends, bend it. This includes your elbows, wrists, knees and possibly your fingers. Also, you may hear me say, "Arch your back." Arching the back will accentuate parts that you want to show off.

Although I try to keep posing as simple as possible, there are things you will be doing that you don't do every day. You may feel some discomfort after a ninety minute session. But it will be worth it because because you will look amazing!

My advice to anyone is don't let posing scare you. That's what I am here for. I will guide you through simple techniques that will make you see yourself like you have never seen before! Let this day be  your fun day that you know you will be taken care of and receive a first class experience.  Click on that button below for a complimentary call. Let's rock your boudoir session out!
